After earthquake...bowling

For those that haven`t felt an earthquake...the feeling is far away from pleasant.
Suddenly your whole world starts shaking and in-spite I  was aware of the danger of going into the street( windows may fall, cables may fall, trees may fall, cars may run on you) I stubbornly stepped out of my building with all my other neighbors in the middle of the street surrounded by trees, cables, cars and oh yes millions of windows from all the other buildings around us.

Yes. We have been taught that we should look for a place to cover ourselves inside the place you are, never go outside.  I even have in my house even an emergency bag which I obviously forgot when I got downstairs and noticed I only brought with me a cellular phone that didn`t work for hours. So there. Emergency comes and you do exactly the opposite you have been taught for years or is this a Colombian thing?

Sometimes you want to deny where you are from. People like me that have the blessing of have travelled to many countries you see more "advanced" cultures and you think why can`t my country be more civilized or more organized or more respectful of laws...but what happened yesterday was a pure proof that no matter where you go, you can`t deny where you are from.

Only ten minutes later I went to a huge Shopping Mall..that well in case of a replica which sometimes is worse would make evacuation slightly more difficult and well panic would have been the law. Still I was surrounded by my work-mates. We had a bowling tournament as celebration of Teacher Day, and we did what Colombians do best and well I was part of it. As if nothing happened. We played, we drank beer, we danced, we laughed..and once in a while a funny comment: Soo how was the earthquake for you...and you answer...very well thank you!!

My country has that..in one day..we have a strong earthquake...a confirmation from the government that the main leader of the Farc is dead and oh yes very important social commitments to fullfill. Inspite I promote organization and rules...I broke all of them yesterday and I loved it !! What makes you survive and makes you happy is not a serious of structures but the ability to deal with changes. That is what makes Colombians strong.
